"PROVIDING AND PROTECTING WISCONSIN'S GROUND WATER"

The Wisconsin Water Well Association (WWWA) represents over 300 registered well drillers and pump installers.  Its purpose is to increase the industry's knowledge and understanding of proper drilling, pump installation, and well abandonment techniques; work with the appropriate state agencies in the protection of Wisconsin's ground water; and increase the public's awareness of the importance of and involvement in ground water efforts.
The industry depends upon the availability of clean ground water for its livelihood.  The members of the Association understand that they have a responsibility to protect this valuable resource. In order to accomplish this task, the Wisconsin Water Well Association:
  • Conducts Annually a drilling demonstration to provide training opportunities and encourages state regulatory personnel to visit work in progress
  • Sponsors Ground Water Awareness Week
  • Works with the WDNR in providing continuing education classes to the industry
  • Publishes a newsletter providing technical and educational information, including changes in regulations to the industry
  • Conducts an annual Ground Water Conference to heighten awareness of ground water issues and regulatory initiatives
  • Commissioned the writing of a book, Well and Borehole Sealing: Importance, Materials, and Recommendations for Decommissioning
  • Provides information to elementary classrooms and conducts classes promoting well water education with WWWA "Ground Water Basics" video
  • Works with the WDNR in the development of administrative rules affecting well construction and pump standards and the establishment of minimum levels of competency for parties engaged in these activities
  • Funds the efforts of the American Ground Water Trust to develop and distribute information on ground water, including a ground water video about water wells to be used in classrooms, in workshops, and for the general public
  • Works  with other organizations and trade associations to develop a comprehensive approach to protecting Wisconsin's ground water.
